More tourists from China and Japan to be seen in Thailand this year

Over two million tourists from Japan and China are expected to enter Thailand this year.

According to the President of the Thai-Japan Tourist Association (TJTA), Anek Srishevachart, the association had expected 1.2 million tourists to enter the Kingdom this year, though the lack of flight was the most concerned threat in the industry. TJTA will coordinate with Thai and Japan airlines to increase fights accordingly before the Japanese annual holiday takes place. The flight operation will also cover local routes to Hokkaido, Sendai, Nikata and Yamagata.

Meanwhile, President of the Thai-Chinese Tourism Alliance (TCTA), Vichit Prakobgosol, noted that around 1.2 million Chinese tourists were likely to enter the kingdom in 2010, an increase of 2% year on year. He voiced concern over the delay of visa fee exemption progress by the government, claiming some tourists had postponed their trips due to the delay.
